Ends attach to either side of the handle on the Fusion staff system. Different ends serve different purposes — daytime, fire, or LED. All ends use the standard 22mm tubing interface.
Attachment and grip coverage
Each end tube fits over a connector on the handle. Push the tube over the connector's O-ring until the end and handle meet flush, then twist until tight. Both handle-to-end joins should be flush. Twisting expands the connector's rubber elements into a compression lock that secures the end without rattling or movement.
The expanding rubber elements sit deeper inside the end tube. The O-ring sits near the final join, where it prevents metal-on-metal contact and rattling. See Compression lock.
Spin staff ends are bare, with grip only on the handle. Contact and dragon staffs use the same parts and have grip over most of the staff, including the end sections, for body rolls. Grip stops short of the ends to avoid being burnt; exact clearance by end type is not yet documented. See Fusion Grips and Source: Fusion Clarifications — 7 September 2026.
End length
End length is derived from the total staff length: (staff length − handle length) ÷ 2. For a contact/dragon handle (400mm), a 1500mm staff has 550mm ends ((1500 − 400) ÷ 2). This applies to all end types, including fire and LED (e.g. Prism Hybrid) ends. See Sizing for the full length table.
Types
Pure End
A straight pole that connects to the handle and is used to connect hubs (dragon heads, Ultra hubs, V3 hubs). Available in carbon fibre and aluminium. This is the base end for building a dragon staff or standalone contact staff.
The Pure tube has an open outer end into which an Ultra hub's connector inserts. This open tube is the attachment point required by Ultra hubs.
Material choice: Carbon-fibre Pure staffs are noticeably lighter than aluminium and, according to Jason, much more popular for this reason. The saving is especially valuable for dragon staffs, where hubs and spokes add weight. Other differences in stiffness, flex, and durability remain to be documented.

Pure staffs can be ordered with or without end caps, and with any grip option. Carbon-fibre Pure ends used with V3 hubs require end caps: the cap inserts into the open tube and supports it against the clamp, which will crack unsupported carbon.
Fire Ends
Fire-end tubes are always aluminium, even when the staff has a carbon-fibre handle. This avoids heat damage to carbon-fibre tubing at the fire end. Jason explains that joining carbon and aluminium partway along an end would add as much weight as using aluminium throughout, so it does not provide the intended weight saving.
Fire ends carry a Kevlar wick attached to the end of the tube with screws. Jason describes the wick as wrapped and screwed onto the tube. This wick-bearing end does not provide the open tube end used to insert an Ultra hub; V3 hubs attach externally instead. See Source: Fusion Clarifications — 7 September 2026 and Fusion Hubs.
On contact fire ends, the aluminium between the grip and the wick is covered in silicone so accidental contact with a hot end does not burn the skin.
Three wick types are offered on contact fire ends. Sushi Wrap is a wrapped wick; Monkey Fist and Isis are knotted wicks.
- Sushi Wrap (4") — standard wick: flat Kevlar webbing wrapped around the tube and fixed in place
- Monkey Fist — a knotted Kevlar ball on the end of the tube, distinct from the Sushi Wrap
- Isis — knotted weave; bigger flame and longer burn than Sushi
- Optional: Silicone Flowers — available on fire ends. They slow down the roll, making body rolls easier for beginners — a functional aid, not just cosmetic
Correction (2026-09-17): Sushi Wrap was previously described as having "a monkey fist on the end". Jason confirmed the Monkey Fist is a separate knotted end option, not part of the Sushi Wrap. Monkey Fist weights are not yet recorded; see Fusion Weight Reference.
LED Ends
Fusion LED ends connect to the same handle system. Their construction differs between spin and contact versions:

The wiki's “Prism Hybrid” and “Lumi LED with Prism Heads” descriptions refer to this Prism-ended hybrid construction; exact catalog naming remains to be confirmed.
Current versus planned join: The aluminium/polycarbonate join is currently permanent. A press-fit join is planned to allow easy replacement of a broken polycarbonate section; no launch date or version is confirmed. Do not describe replaceable polycarbonate sections as a current feature.
Hybrid dragon configuration: Hybrid LED ends also accept Lumi Dragon Heads, so the end tubes and the dragon heads can light up together:
- Standard hybrid: remove the standard silicone cap, then fit the Lumi Dragon Head.
- Prism hybrid: remove the Prism-head fittings, then fit the Lumi Dragon Head. The exact fittings and removal method still need to be itemised for a detailed help procedure.
Switching between contact and dragon is possible, although Jason says most people use one configuration or the other.
Compatibility
- Contact/dragon ends will physically connect to a spin handle, but their approximately 25mm gripped OD does not match the spin handle's approximately 22mm gripped OD. This combination is not recommended.
- Pure ends accept all three hub types (Lumi, Ultra, V3)
- Fire ends accept V3 hubs, clamped just on the inside edge of the Kevlar wick toward the handle.
- LED ends can be used without hubs. Standard and Prism hybrid LED ends also accept Lumi Dragon Heads after removing the standard cap or Prism-head fittings respectively, as described above.
