Hubs attach to the ends of the Fusion staff to create a dragon staff configuration. They hold spokes (fire, LED, or daytime).
Types
Lumi LED Dragon Heads
Fully independent LED hubs with 3 spokes per hub. They push onto Pure ends and also fit hybrid LED ends. On hybrid ends, the staff end tubes and dragon heads can light up together. To convert a standard hybrid, remove its silicone cap and fit the Dragon Head. For a Prism hybrid, remove the Prism-head fittings first, then fit the Dragon Head; the exact fittings/removal method remain to be itemised. Switching between contact and dragon is possible, though most people use one configuration or the other. Available as a standalone product or as part of the Lumi LED range.
Each spoke has its own light: three units per head, six per pair of heads. A hybrid dragon adds the two hybrid-end lights, giving eight units in total (calculated from the component counts).
Ultra Hubs
- Lightweight inserts (88g each) that twist inside the staff tube
- No tools required to attach the hub to the staff — twist installation; spokes are secured separately with M6 grub/set screws
- 3 or 4 spokes per hub (so 6 or 8 total on a dragon staff)
- Accept interchangeable spokes: fire, LED, practice claws
- Historical wording mentions “quick-release end cap functionality”; its exact meaning and affected revision remain unconfirmed. Do not equate it with the separate supporting cap required for V3 on carbon Pure ends.
- Compatible with Pure ends only
- Current version V2: solid hub, locking pin system fully removed.
Ultra hubs use exactly the same expanding-rubber connector and O-ring arrangement as the Fusion handle. Insert the connector so that the tube passes over the O-ring before tightening. Twisting expands the rubber elements deeper inside the tube to form the compression lock; the O-ring near the join prevents metal-on-metal contact and rattling. Spoke fastening is a separate step, described below.
Why Pure ends only: The Ultra connector inserts into the open end of a Pure tube. Fire ends have a Kevlar wick wrapped and screwed to the end of the tube, so they do not provide that open-ended attachment point. See Fusion Ends and Source: Fusion Clarifications — 7 September 2026.
V3 Hubs
- Precision-machined 7075 aluminium construction
- Clamp onto the outside of 22mm OD staffs
- Heavier (105g each) but very secure
- 3 or 4 spokes per hub (so 6 or 8 total on a dragon staff)
- Compatible with fire, LED, and practice spokes
- Require Allen key for removal
- End caps required on carbon-fibre Pure ends — insert the supporting cap into the open tube before clamping; the clamp will crack unsupported carbon
- Compatible with both Pure ends and Fire ends — the only hub that works with Fire ends
On a Fire end, position the V3 hub just on the inside edge of the Kevlar wick, toward the handle. For carbon-fibre Pure ends, fit the required internal supporting end cap before clamping.

Spokes
The Threeworlds spoke types listed below fit both Ultra and V3 hubs. Spoke rod size: 8mm. Ultra is suitable for Threeworlds' own Sushi and Isis fire spokes; heavier custom wicks are not recommended for Ultra.
Both Ultra and V3 hubs have 8mm holes that accept the spoke rods. Push the rods completely into the holes, then tighten the M6 grub/set screws against the sides of the rods to lock them in place.
Spoke-screw tool: A 3mm hex/Allen key is the expected tool, based on Jason's description of standard M6 grub screws and the supplier specification in Source: M6 Grub Screw Tool Reference. The exact fitted screw/tool still needs a product-specific check. This does not confirm the separate V3 clamp fastener's tool size. The Ultra hub's tool-free staff attachment does not describe its spoke fastening.

Six or eight spokes: Choose according to personal preference for the visuals. Eight spokes add weight. Jason has not specified a rolling-behaviour advantage for either configuration.
Sushi or Isis fire spokes: Isis produces a bigger flame and burns longer than Sushi. Both Threeworlds options are suitable for Ultra hubs.
Comparison
Confirmed weights (2026-09-07): Jason supplied 88g per Ultra hub and 105g per V3 hub, replacing the earlier conflicting figures. See Source: Fusion Clarifications — 7 September 2026 and Fusion Weight Reference.
Choosing Ultra or V3: Ultra hubs are lighter and more convenient to attach and remove. V3 hubs provide greater attachment security. Ultra is suitable for Threeworlds' own Sushi and Isis fire spokes; heavier custom wicks are not recommended for Ultra. Jason has not given a general recommendation to use V3 for custom wicks. End compatibility also matters: Ultra inserts into Pure ends, while V3 can clamp onto Pure or Fire ends. V3 on carbon-fibre Pure ends requires the supporting end caps described above.

Spoke-count correction (2026-09-07): Jason confirmed V3 uses 3 or 4 spokes per end, giving 6 or 8 per complete staff. The previous comparison row incorrectly doubled those counts. See Source: Fusion Clarifications — 7 September 2026; the affected weight example has also been corrected.
Lumi compatibility correction (2026-09-07): The previous Pure-only restriction omitted hybrid LED ends. Jason confirmed hybrid ends also accept Lumi Dragon Heads. This does not change the documented end restrictions for Ultra or V3 hubs.
