The Ultra hub is the newer hub. Its main advantage over the V3 hub is the ability to remove it from the staff with no tools. Simply twist to release. It is also lighter than the V3 hub.
The V3 advantages are the infallible connection to the staff. Very secure for heavier wicks or stupid fast flow and direction changes.
It can also be used on a fire contact staff, where the Ultra Hub cannot.
