Dragon Staff Maintenance
To get the most out of your dragon, it's important to take proper care of it. For set up, general cleaning and troubleshooting, check out our Fusion Guide on Youtube Here.
In addition, greasing and lubricating parts are steps that should be taken periodically to keep things working smoothly. How often you should do this depends on the usage of the prop and environment. As a general recommendation, once every 3-6 months will suit most staffs.
Greasing the Cam Bolt
To do this, simply unscrew the cam bolt from the handle or hub. You do not need to completely remove it by taking out the small M4 grub screw that holds it in place, just unscrewing it so you can get to the base of the thread will be enough.
Add just a touch of grease to the beginning of the thread, and screw it back into the handle/hub, being careful not to get grease on the washers and bushes.
Any standard grease for will be suitable for this.
Lubricating Grub Screws
This is for the grub screws that hold the spokes in on your hub. You do not need to fully remove the grub screws for this as the lubricant will seep around them in the hub.
Simply spray some lubricant on each grub screw and give it a moment to settle. Wipe the excess lubricant off the hub with a rag and you'll be good to go.
We use a silicone free spray lubricant: CRC 5-56 multi-purpose lubricant. Do not use WD-40 for this as it dries quickly and will not provide lasting lubrication.
